Initially this can cause a minor discomfort, but it can progress into an infection in the adjacent skin or become a reoccurring problem. Ingrown toenails most commonly affect the large (great) toes.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a common, chronic, adult acne-like skin condition that can flare up and down. It usually affects the forehead, cheeks, chin, and the lower half of the nose. It causes facial flushing or tiny red pimples and fine red lines or vessels on the skin. Untreated rosacea tends to worsen over time and can be a progressive disease. Severe disease can produce larger red tender pimples, thicken skin and a bulbous nose. It is therefore important to understand and control Rosacea as soon as possible.

At Medical Skin Clinic Australia we use a holistic approach to the treatment of your rosacea. Rosacea skin is often very sensitive, inflamed and damaged. The top surface layer has often been compromised and there is often involvement of mites and bacteria. This can be the result of many internal or external exposures.

We do not just look at your skin but carry out a full medical assessment that involves all aspects of how your body works and its exposures. It is not always possible to identify a definite one cause for your rosacea as it can be due to a number of reasons. There is also a chance that if a cause is identified it cannot be controlled, however there are usually measures to control the disease and improve the skin.

Having done a thorough medical assessment, we provide you with the knowledge and understanding about possible causes for your rosacea, lifestyle measures to aid control and prevent flares, possible treatment options and how they work. This we feel empowers you to be able to control it.

It is possible to control rosacea and improve the appearance of your skin and at Medical Skin Clinic Australia we provide experienced clinicians who are able to indivualise a treatment plan for you that is holistic and supported.

It is worth remembering that rosacea care and control is an ongoing programe that may continue for some years. One treatment will not be the solution. Good control involves a tailored program that you understand and feel you can stick to whilst being supported by a proffessional who can adapt the plan as your skin changes. Rosacea skin can often be complex and a treatment started today may require adaption in 3-6 months time. Rosacea can also have flare ups which again is important to understand and know how to manage.

The main issues we find we rosacea is an unrealistic time frame for results causing patients to stop the plan too early feeling it is not working and forgetting to have regular reviews of the plan as the skin changes.

Possible Treatments for Rosacea
Rosacea skin is often very sensitive, inflamed and damaged. The top surface layer has often been compromised and there is often involvement of mites and bacteria.
